Springwood 2

A fountain at "Springwood", once the home of Norman Lindsay, now a National Trust gallery and museum. Norman Lindsay happens to be my favourite Australian artist. When I look at his work, I get lost in a world oozing sensuality and humour. Consequently, whenever I am in the Blue Mountains, I find it hard not to drop in at "Springwood", just to escape for a while to that world.

I adored (still do!) Lindsay's book The Magic Pudding. As a kid I spent hours poring over the wonderful illustrations, and how good are the character names - Bunyip Bluegum, Barnacle Bill and Sam Sawnoff?

"Springwood" was built in the 1890's, Norman Lindsay bought the property in 1912. He established Roman style gardens and created a fabulous bathing pool, many sculptures and fountains, which give the property a magical, sensual, secret garden feel.

So totally perfect! I love learning/seeing things that are new to me and now I am going to do research on this Lindsay artist! Also, thanks for posting the lovely pictures! And last but not least: I'm envious that you get to visit this place!

I hope you find that you like his work. I'm envious that you live in the US, does that make us even?
