Be calmed

Surf RocksI love the colours in this photo, they calm and soothe me. I need to be calmed and soothed.

Morning Carnival

30 October 2006

Surf CarnivalSurf, sun, sand. Men of all shapes and sizes, united by the creep of their budgie smugglers, as they roll and wedge up each heaving arse. Beautiful timber boats, skillfully controlled, yet still at the mercy of the last wave in the set. A sea of naked limbs, red and yellow caps and hairy arses, tumble in the foam.

Juxtaposition

24 October 2006

NP Sunrise
Rainy day at the local mall, with things to buy, money to spend. Inadequate parking as ever on days like this, in the lead-up to the Jesus season. Every man and his flea-bitten mongrel, shuffling around in the fluorescence. Saggy-titted women (oh get a bra for fuck's sake!) pushing their snot-faced (NB the snot was not limited to the nose) kids around and around and around. Husbands held captive, glazed eyes searching for something, anything of interest, and wanting to be at home watching the Grand Prix, or getting sucked-off by that attractive red-headed chick in Jeans West... or anything, anywhere but there in the Legionella gloom.

Duck Day Afternoon

20 October 2006

Ducks

This post says, "That chick will photograph anything" and what's more... I will post it. Lucky, lucky you.

As I write this, I'm listening to Depche Mode's Enjoy the Silence, loud, loud, loud in my headphones, and I am enjoying the silence of a household where I am the only occupant awake.

Wharf

19 October 2006

Newport Wharf
I have lived within spitting distance of this wharf for 5 years. Yesterday was the first time I've set foot on it.

I'm a Holden girl

18 October 2006

Kingswood
How Aussie is that? One look at this car reminds me of day trips to inland dams, where we would fish for trout and catch carp. One look evokes the scent of wet dog and freshly lit cigarette. One look and I remember my lithe, tanned, kid-limbs and the JC sandals that adorned the feet of all kids my age in the 70's. I think dad crashed this car too.

Right here, right now

15 October 2006

Sydney Harbour Bridge Sunset

I have a long-held idea about moving to the country, getting a large patch of dirt, a cow and a horse or two. I always picture myself as extremely happy; eating home-grown vegies, swimming in ice-cold, crystal-clear water-holes, my barefoot kids running around happy as Larry. The picture is so vivid and easy-to-imagine for me as it is a snapshot of the happiest period of my childhood. I am a nostalgic creature.

Attempting to recapture this happy period of my life will never work, especially if I can't say I am happy in the here and now. You've got to be happy in the here and now. Right now, I can't say that I am happy, but, I can say that I see a light at the end of the tunnel... thank fuck.

Life's a beach

12 October 2006

Booti Booti National Park
I'm going to miss the soft squeak of the white as white sand on the beaches of my 'holiday' destination.

It seems like forever since I left, yet it has barely been two weeks. Lots of thinking has been done (and a truckload of sunbathing). I'd much rather be away still, but that would be the easy road.
